Jan Taylor Elting

Jan Taylor Elting 1934 - 2020 Jan Taylor Elting was born in Alamosa, Colorado; raised in Monte Vista, Colorado; married his wife Judy of 67 years in 1953; and, together, they raised four children. Jan graduated from the University of Colorado School of Pharmacy. He owned and operated four successful pharmacies in Littleton, Colorado, from 1969-1993. Jan took pride in and enjoyed the leadership roles he undertook in the Denver metro area. He worked to connect independent pharmacy owners to develop business relationships and buying groups. He was involved in politics and was committed to protecting the environment; trout fishing and nature were lifelong loves. He, along with Judy, took several months away from work to advocate for a ballot initiative seeking to stop the manufacture of nuclear weapons components in Colorado. Jan thoroughly enjoyed international travel. He explored and connected to the worlds' cultures with Judy through Friendship Force International, served as President of the Colorado Chapter and Exchange Director for several trips. He lived his entire life with enthusiasm, wonderful humor, quick wit, gratitude, and kindness. Jan was fiercely supportive of his family, always displaying great love, concern, and compassion. Later in life, specifically the last 20 plus years, he showed tremendous courage and fortitude, working hard to stay strong in body and mind for as long as he could. Jan is deeply loved and will be sorely missed. He is survived by his wife, Judith Lee Ward Elting, and their children and grandchildren: Mark James Elting; Dirk Taylor Elting, his wife Julie Anne Kientz Elting, and their children, Devin Kientz Elting, Maria Kientz Elting, and Russell Kientz Elting; Jennifer Elting Volkman, her husband Jon (Jack) Keith Volkman, and their son Taylor Jon Volkman; Julie Rebecca Elting Derry, and her husband Joseph Stephens Derry.
